The carving in the tree says "The Goddess Is Alive." Indeed. ©1997 Dave Anderson . Amy is one of those singers whose voice you can pick out in a chorus of a hundred voices. That's how distinct, powerful, and lovely a voice it is. I can sing you a song. Amy, on the other hand, can deliver that same song straight to your heart and soul, bypassing your conscious mind entirely. After almost 30 years of friendship, I still can't get her to tell me the secret of how she does that. Look to The Ragwagon Band for some of Amy's latest lead vocal work, and join me in bugging her about when she is going to let me produce her first solo CD! Soon, I hope. Amy consented to drive to Boston on a number of occasions to record harmonies on almost half of the songs on two CDs. The list is so long that there must be a couple I missed. And then there is Amy the actress - her voice-over at the end of my song "mmmBuh-Bye" is hilarious. Starting her last line with "Sir, sir..." was her own improvisation and had us rolling on the floor in the control room. Amy is new to the songwriting business, but watch out. Her composition "More" on the Ragwagon CD is a wild, vivid rocker, written and sung from the heart. A first effort worthy of the rock and soul traditions that it came out of full fledged. Amy's contributions to "Feeling Red, White, And Blue" gave it just the right touch that Gilby and I were looking for. That's what being a co-writer is all about. So, Amy, here's to you! Thanks for all the years of friendship, all your hard work, your perspective and encouragement, and the glorious results. I look forward to the next project. And the one after that.... |
